Saturday September 22 was the official first day of Autumn and for many New England natives this is one of their favorite times of year! Leaves changing bringing lots of gorgeous color, cooler temperatures for enjoying the outdoors on walks or playing football and plenty of farm delights like apple and pumpkin picking for the kid in all of us.

Fall is also one of the best times of years to really assess your home and landscape before another winter sets in. Cracks in sidewalks and retaining walls means that water can get in, freeze over the winter, and cause more damage and sinking. Don’t let it get to the point that safety becomes a concern. Nobody wants a trip hazard or to catch their shovel for snow removal. Uneven or sinking stairs are also an issue.
A wall falling down is no easy repair either especially if it’s there to retain soil or to assist with drainage. Now’s the time to address these issues and get an estimate to repair or replace these key elements to your home and safety.

September and October: Planting trees for added privacy year round is also important this time of year. Better root development with the cooler temperatures for watering and the ground is still warm enough during the day too. Nurseries have stocked up on freshly dug trees ready to be transplanted to your yard! Create a natural privacy fence using fast growing evergreens like pines, spruces, and arborvitae. Our crews will be finishing up the last of our scheduled landscaping jobs for 2018 and doing our annual transition into holiday lighting and decorating for the upcoming season.
